Mr. Gustavo Coronel was a founding member of the Board of Directors for Petroleos de Venezuela (PdVSA), 1976-1979. He was elected to the House of Deputies for the State of Carabobo, the most highly industrialized state in Venezuela, however the Congress was subsequently dissolved by Hugo Chavez in 1999. In 1990 he founded and led for ten years, Pro Calidad de Vida, a Venezuelan non-governmental organization active in anti-corruption work in Latin America, and was Venezuelan representative of Transparency International from 1995 to 1998.
He has been a professor at the Graduate School of Economics at Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas, and was a fellow at the Center for International Affairs at the Harvard University.
Mr. Coronel is a graduate of the University of Tulsa, Central University of Caracas and Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies.
